How To Cook Teriyaki Salmon In Air Fryer

Preparing The Teriyaki Marinade

Take a bowl and combine the teriyaki sauce with ginger and minced garlic. For convenience, I use a garlic press to get perfectly minced garlic. You can mince it in any way you want. Similarly, you can use ginger slices or dice and remove the skin according to your preference. Now our marinade is ready, let's move to the next step of marinating the salmon.

Marinating The Salmon

Next, it is time to marinate our salmon. If you are not a fan of the skin, you can use skinless fillets, but keeping the skin adds a delightful texture. The choice is yours...

I will use a zip-top bag to well coat the salmon with marinade. It is more convenient, and the results are perfect. Place the salmon fillets in the bag and ensure the fish marinades evenly. You can gently massage the marinade into the fish for more perfect results. To prevent any leaks from the bag, remove as much air as possible before sealing it.

Teriyaki Salmon Air Fryer

You should marinate the salmon for approximately 30 minutes, but if you have limited time, give it at least 10-15 minutes to infuse flavors effectively.

Air Frying Teriyaki Salmon

While the salmon marinates, preheat your air fryer to 400F. This step is crucial because preheating the air fryer will help you get desired texture and doneness. Next, lightly coat the air fryer basket with a non-stick cooking spray to prevent the fish skin from sticking.

Now place the salmon fillets (skin side down) into the air fryer basket and cook for 10 to 12 minutes.

Note: The cook time may vary with the thickness of the fillets. For thicker fillets, cook time will be approx 15 minutes. And if you have more thinner fillets, they can be cooked in 7-8 minutes. So, adjust the cooking time accordingly.

Once the teriyaki salmon is cooked perfectly, remove it from the air fryer carefully. Ensure that all your fillets remain intact.

Thickening the Teriyaki Sauce

While the salmon cooks, let's transform the remaining marinade into a luscious teriyaki sauce. Take a pan and pour all the marinade into it. Remember to use a medium-high heat setting here. You can reduce it to your desired consistency.

For a thicker sauce, you can also create a cornstarch slurry. To do this, take a bowl and mix some cornstarch and water in it. Now gradually pour this slurry into the simmering marinade. Stir it continuously until you get your desired thickness. First, add a small amount, and if necessary, add more. Once you get the desired thickness, remove the heat to prevent over-thickening.

Serving The Teriyaki Salmon

It's time to serve the teriyaki salmon. Now drizzle the thickened teriyaki sauce over the salmon. Allow the sauce to coat the surface. You can also use a spoon to spread the sauce evenly. For a visually appealing presentation, sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the top. Serve it with pride and be the star of any gathering.

  • Use Homemade sauce instead of store-bought sauce for perfect flavor and taste.
  • Use parchment paper in your air fryer basket. This will help in air fryer cleaning.
